So...are you who God wants you to be? Many of us want to do right by the Lord. We do want to make it to Heaven. We want all that. We want God to take us up when our time is called. We want God to hear our humble cries when we are hurting on the inside. We want God to take all of our pain away. We want God to give us perfect peace. We want God to open up doors that man said is shut. I can go on and on about how much we want from our Lord and Savior but I have to ask," Are you who God wants you to be?" Because I know you want God to be your Protector, Provider, Savior, Friend, Father, etc. But are you even being what God wants you to be? Are you meeting the expectations of God? We have a tendency to see God in this singular role as a doer for us. What investments are you making back in the Lord? This is a relationship. Just as you have expectations of God, God has expectations of you!
1. Develop a relationship with God
Relationship - the state of being connected. I swear many of you don't realize how we mistreat the Lord. God is so faithful. God is so kind. God always tells you the truth. God is there for you in the clutch. Sadly, while we have this good thing here, we look elsewhere to fill voids in our life. We would rather put off God and work for connections with others. And like a faithful and BFF God is, when things aren't well we run to God because we know He will hear us and listen to us. He will give great advice and like we do with or friends, we won't listen. We are afraid. If things don't work out, we come back to God until some other presence takes our attention. Real relationships are fostered. real relationships are worked on tirelessly regardless of who comes in the picture. God is ever-lasting. Everything, even your loved ones, will pass. God will always be there. Take time for the Lord. Talk to the Lord. Learn more about the Lord.
2. Trust His Ways are better than yours
Trust God knows what is best for you. How do you develop trust? This goes back to that relationship. Develop that so you can be like Abraham and trust God to lead you even if you are in the dark. God is light and He will shine forth wherever God leads you. God has plans for your life and we need to stop acting like we have a grasp on everything. Trust God to be there when you stumble. Trust God to lead you on your path. Trust God to never disappoint you. It won't always look good! No! But is He not your help? He is your everlasting help. In one of my favorite songs it say, " I never seen the righteous forsaken. You're the source of every breath I'm taking" God is there every step of the way.
3. Be a Doer of His Word
Ahhhhhh. This is the part that all struggle with in our lives. We make decisions at times to "Live for God". Then we slip backwards. We get complacent. We let the sin pile up. We let the shame dig in us to when we struggle to see God. We get away from Him. It is important to live a life with integrity. This is something I can definitely say that I have struggled with at points in my life. I've done things that hurt others, myself, and God. As a Christian, I have to live with integrity. I have to walk the ways of the righteous. I'm on my way but still have ways to go. Walking in righteousness is doing the will of God. Living a life to please God. Be a doer of His word no matter what it costs you. Small sacrifice for an infinite reward. Put the outcome before the means. When you see the light at the end of the tunnel, darkness won't scare you.
4. Treat God as God
As I said earlier, you expect God to be your Protector, Provider, Savior, Friend, Father, etc. So that means YOU KNOW EXACTLY THE ABILITY OF GOD. If that be the case, are you treating God with the reverence in your life He deserves? Is God the head of your life? Is God very important to you? If so, treat God like that. There is none like Him. I could go on but this video says it best: https://youtu.be/yzqTFNfeDnE.
So again, are you who God wants you to be? I hope so. If not, the time is now to be exactly who God asks you to be. By no means is this the Blueprint for being who God wants you to be. I'm sure there is so much more to be said. However, I think these things are very important in us being who God asks us to be for Him...Love you..thank you for reading.
